This supplement contains Satiereal®, a unique ingredient, whose clinical efficacy has been confirmed by double blind placebo-controlled studies.

Satiereal® is a patented hydroalcoholic extract of saffron stigmas cultivated in the Mediterranean basin. It has a satiating effect by directly targeting neurotransmitters that increase satiety and reduce compulsive eating behaviour.

Satiereal®, picrocrocin, crocin and their derivatives can influence satiety. Hence, they are used for overweight treatment. These compounds are also effective against compulsive eating behaviour triggered by either stress or depression.

Gout et al. (2010) enrolled 60 overweight women in a double blind placebo-controlled study to evaluate the efficacy of Satiereal® on changes in body weight during 8 weeks of treatment without dietary restrictions. The intake of 2 capsules of saffron extract twice a day obtained, in 100% of treated subjects, a weight reduction that far exceeded the one observed in the placebo (1.65 kg mainly of fatty mass, with a mean of 1.41 kg). A reduction in the frequency of snacks was also observed. Similar results were recorded by clinical studies in 2007.

Saffron: the stigma of its flower contains three main metabolites: crocin (which gives the colour), picrocrocin (that causes the bitter taste), and safranal, a volatile oil that conveys the typical scent of saffron.
