Vitamin D3 Food Supplement (4000 IU)
Indicated for the health of bones and teeth, for calcium and phosphorus absorption and use, muscle function, immune system function and cellular division process.
Vitamin D favours:
Vitamin D is a nutrient that can derive either from foodstuffs or be directly synthesised by our body via exposure to sunlight. Essential for the optimal use of calcium in the body, its deficiency can cause bone dysfunction, such as rachitism in children and osteoporosis in adults.
The reserves of vitamin D usually do not last beyond winter, as winter sunlight in Europe is not bright enough to produce satisfactory amounts of vitamin D. However, vitamin D deficiency is a worldwide problem that promises to grow worse.
Low levels of 25(OH)D are associated with several musculoskeletal, intrinsic immune system and cardiovascular disorders.
People at risk of deficiency are those who spend a lot of time at home, dress to cover the skin, and dark skinned subjects. Even the use of protective sun creams, which are very useful to prevent the risk of skin cancer, blocks the synthesis of this important vitamin.
The high dosage allows to compensate for important deficiencies.

Vitamin D: pro-hormone with an important effect on bone tissue. Besides this function, it has non-skeletal actions that regulate many physiological processes (immune response, cardiovascular health, obesity, diabetes, depression, cognitive decline, autoimmune diseases and certain neoplasms), as reported by several scientific studies.
