Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia), a member of the Lamiacae family, has been used for centuries for various therapeutic and cosmetic purposes. Particular attention has been given to its essential oil, a traditionally used oil that was approved by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) as an herbal remedy to relieve stress.

Documented evidence regarding the use of lavender can be traced back to the ancient Romans and Greeks, when it was already used for its sedative effects and calming properties.

Chemically, lavender is composed of over 100 constituents and its essential oil is particularly rich in linalyl acetate and linalool, which are responsible for the beneficial effects obtained through their actions on consolidated targets of the central nervous system.

In addition, it seems that lavender essential oil can improve the quality of sleep.

The formula contained in LongLife Organic Lavender Oil  combines lavender essential oil with sunflower oil to make it less aggressive towards the mucous membranes.
