Betaine increases the levels of SAM (s-adenosyl methionine) in the body, an effect that protects against lipid build-up in the liver, fighting conditions, such as steatopathy, coronary atherosclerosis and hyperlipidaemia.

Supplementation with betaine can also be useful to improve sports performance, especially to increase strength and improve resistance to fatigue during endurance exercises.

Betaine hydrochloride: amino acid with three methyl groups, involved in homocysteine metabolism. It is a powerful pro-oxidant that produces free radicals.
