Beta-carotene is the most widespread carotenoid in nature and a precursor of vitamin A, which it converts into in cases of retinol deficiency.

This pigment can therefore perform the functions of vitamin A, providing beneficial effects on visual processes and skin level thanks to its ability to protect the dermis and epidermis, particularly against photo-aging. The substantial difference between vitamin A and beta-carotene is that the latter is free of toxicity.

Present in numerous vegetables and fruits, the beta-carotene in this supplement comes from Dunaliella salina, a unicellular alga capable of producing enormous quantities of this carotenoid.

Numerous epidemiological studies indicate that the consumption of fruits and vegetables, due to their high concentrations of carotenoids, can improve skin health, hindering the appearance of skin wrinkles.

Some researchers have shown that the administration of beta-carotene from the alga Dunaliella salina (94% beta-carotene and small amounts of alpha-carotene, cryptoxanthin, zeaxanthin and lutein) is capable of protecting human skin from UV-induced erythema. A general protective effect against sunburn is indeed reported following beta-carotene supplementation.

Beta-carotene: important source of provitamin A, it is not synthesised by the body and, therefore, has to be taken with food.

Ingredients: bulking agent (dibasic calcium phosphate), beta-carotene from Dunaliella salina microalga thallus (gelatin, sucrose, antioxidant: ascorbyl palmitate, olive oil, algal carotenoids, antioxidant: tocopherol mixture, anti-caking agent: silicon dioxide), powder extract of fruits and vegetables (broccoli, cabbages, brussels sprouts, spinach, tomatoes, ginger, beets, carrots, onions, potatoes, peaches, lemons, limes, oranges, grapefruits, bananas, plums, kiwis, mango, cantaloupe, cherries, raspberries, blueberries, red grapes, strawberries, pineapple, apples, apricots, red pepper, elderberry, eggplants), anti-caking agents (stearic acid and vegetable magnesium stearate), thickener (sodium carboxymethylcellulose), bulking agent (microcrystalline cellulose), coating agent (hydroxypropylmethylcellulose), resistance agent (glycerol).
