Agaricus Bio

With a typical intense almond odour, Agaricus grows exposed to direct sunlight in damp and hot environments.

It has always been used in Brazil as a food with several medicinal properties, and is known as Sun Mushroom or God of Life. It was first discovered towards the middle of the last century. Interest in the mushroom was triggered by the observation that some native populations of the state of São Paulo enjoyed enviable well-being and a very low incidence of degenerative diseases as a result of the continuous consumption of this mushroom.

Agaricus is very rare in the wild due to the particular environmental conditions it requires, which are typical of the rain forest. It is quite hard to cultivate; hence, its controlled production was stabilised only in recent years.

Among all medicinal mushrooms, Agaricus is the one that contains the highestconcentration of β-glucans, substances that are most involved in supporting the immune system, and which actively fight harmful pathogens and microorganisms. Moreover, these compounds contribute to reducing fatty acid and cholesterol levels in blood, and to maintaining elastic arteries.
